Under 9's Hawks, Kestrels & Falcons

The Byron Red Star under 9’s Hawks are currently in the ‘KENT’ division, the Kestrels are in the 'NORFOLK' division, whilst the Falcons are in the ‘DURHAM’ division.  The Under 9’s league currently consists of 11 divisions all named after English counties with 10 teams in each division.  Although the scores are recorded and used to ensure teams are playing other teams of the same ability, league tables are not kept and the focus is on the development of the children’s football capability.

Our teams consists of  between 9 – 10 boys (we can have up to a maximum of 12 players registered) aged 8 and 9 who generally live in and around the Hornchurch, Gidea Park and Harold Wood area in the London Borough of Havering.  The matches are  7 aside and are 50 minutes in length and played as two 25 minute halves.  The season generally starts in September and ends in May, with a short winter break over the festive period.

This season both teams will play a minimum of 18 matches in the league (teams can get moved around at certain times of the year to even the divisions out), plus on average a further 6 friendlies throughout the year.  In addition to this we would also enter a number of tournaments (3-5 per season) where there would be up to 50 teams present including the U7’s up to the U17’s who play 11 aside.  At these tournaments, including our own Byron tournament, on average we play about 5-6 games.
