Frosty but successful day for the Byron Teams !

Updated: Jan 20, 2020

Despite the cold and frosty conditions, it was a busy day for the Byron teams, with all of them doing us proud !

Our U7 Kestrels fought hard to secure a high scoring draw this morning. Despite the draw the Kestrels dominated most of the game bar 2 mins where they conceded 3 goals. Despite all their hard work and numerous efforts, they just couldn’t get the ball past their opponents’ colossus of a keeper.

Despite playing some great football, our U7 Merlins succumbed to a strong Buckhurst Hill side this morning.

Our U8 Hawks recorded their second win on the trot to open 2020 in style. Playing in a new formation the boys got their rewards for their hard work and took control of the game. The boys all round game was fantastic with them showing some great movement, passing and positioning, which led to another victory. This week's player of the match: Alex

The U8 Kestrels played a strong physical Collier Row team who have been comfortably beating teams with one sided cricket scores.. The Kestrels soared and battled their way up at half time to lead. With just minutes to go and pushing for the victory they unfortunately got caught on the counter. Goal of the game was a peach of a cross from Ronnie into the box from the corner headed in by Jack who got his hatrick. Hard to pick out individual performance but the teams picked Dylan as the stand out player.

It was massive game today for our U9 Hawks against a strong Ryan FC side, but they managed to race into a lead only to be pulled back at end. The Hawks were unlucky not to win after hitting the post and having two shots cleared off the line.

The U9 Falcons played brilliantly against a competitive Cobra FC side today and was an absolute pleasure to watch. Both sides tried to play football the right way and ended with smiles on the faces of both teams.

It was a tough day at the office for our U9 Kestrels who despite putting in a great performance and a determined effort were unlucky to end up on the losing side today due to some great goalkeeping from the opposition stopper. Congrats Harry for being MOM!

U10 Eagles continued their amazing run and took their winning streak to 8 on bounce with a narrow victory over close rivals Billericay Red.

Our U10 Merlins didn’t have a good day and never really got going due to a later than normal kick off. They have been flying this season and we are sure they will kick on again and continue their great season.

U10 Hawks got back to winning ways in style today with a dominating display against Buckhurst Hill. The result never looked in danger with Star Man Matthew pulling the strings and driving the team on to a comfortable victory.

Our U10s Kestrels, battled to a score draw in their first game back after Christmas. After burning off the cobwebs the Kestrels raced into a lead only to be pegged back by Shield Academy in what was a fast and frantic game. Man of the match Fletcher did fantastically well scoring his first hat trick of the year.

Great team performance from U12 Kestrels today against old rivals Flyers, winning comfortably to overcome losses in the cup and away leg of league to them. 2nd win on the bounce for the boys to remain unbeaten in 2020. So proud of the boys for the step change improvement.

U13 Kestrels played well in their friendly against Herongate F.C today winning convincingly in what was billed as a close game. Hopefully they will take this confidence into their next league game.
